As a decorator, Lori is a good listener and incredibly resourceful. That said, all else follows seamlessly. She redecorated several rooms and a 3-season porch in my home. Her suggestions reflect a respect and sensitivity for the homeowner’s values, budget and timeline. She has a particularly keen sense of color. Upon completion of my dining room and kitchen, several of my friends were so delighted with the paint colors that they used the exact combinations in their own homes. Of all the work she did in my home, the one that holds the most importance was the transformation of a first-floor den into my bedroom (as I was no longer able to climb stairs regularly). She removed the dated wood paneling and layers of wallpaper underneath. From there she repaired all of the walls as well as the ceiling to make way for the remodel. She took the time to shop for just the right wallpaper, paint and vintage furnishings. What started out as a dark, dingy den became a sweet and beautiful bedroom full of soft colors and vintage furniture that also provided great storage for this room. The outcome was breathtaking and enabled me to stay happily in my home for several more years.
“Gloom” was the perfect description of my sad little office. Because it was “work” I had adapted to being surrounded by dullness and clutter. After spending time with Lori and describing in general terms, what I liked and wanted in a real office, she took off on the project wholeheartedly. Not being a decorator in any way shape or form myself, I had to trust in her intuition and skills; and, seeing her previous creations, helped a lot. Well, the resulting “Bloom” was and is, nothing short of spectacular. The “reveal” day, was amazing. First with my reaction and then, quickly followed by the reactions of my Staff and Coworkers. Finally, our President & CEO came in and was speechless. He basically said, that my office had “set a new standard” for other Offices to follow suit. I can only say that the entire experience was one of joy and complete satisfaction. The fact that almost all of the furnishings came from Habitat for Humanity Restore is very comforting to me. Lori had a keen eye in finding the perfect green midcentury designer leather chairs (for only $20.00 each) that she cleaned and polished for my office. The whole room vibe took on a masculine semi-southwest feel that I love. I can’t thank Gloom To Bloom enough and this new, energized office is now being reflected in my work.
Although my husband and I wanted to put our house on the market, we procrastinated for over a year because we didn’t know where to begin to get it ready for showings. Lori was referred to us by a mutual friend. Her approach to this daunting task was measured, strategic and reassuring. She helped us to declutter our house, minimize our furniture by putting some in storage until we moved and then developed a plan to paint and freshen most of the rooms in our house. She showcased the best of what we owned, hung artwork in new locations that made all the difference, hung new window treatments and staged our rooms with just the right touches. Shortly after that, we put our house on the market and it went under agreement within two weeks. She made the impossible seem possible. We were so fortunate to find Lori.
After we had new siding put on our house, the original wooden front door was in disrepair and looked worse than ever against the new façade. I asked Lori for her thoughts on how to improve the façade. Instead of embarking on an elaborate makeover, she simply power washed the front steps and sidewalk, made some much-needed repairs to the door and then painted it a bright white with birch bark raised panels. This not only joined it to the rest of the house but also created an inviting focal point for the front of our home and gave it the pop it needed. Although we never use our front door, I go out to “visit” it every day and it makes me smile.
Lori has a wonderful “eye” when she shops for her clients. I’ve been lucky enough to hunt for these treasures with her. These shopping trips always inspire me to take a new look at what I already have and use it in a different way to decorate my home. Her vision is amazing.
